Our Bored to Death book club blog is a place for people to fangirl over books, to criticize their reading and to generally share their love of books. Esmée writes a big part of the site, but she couldn’t do it without the help of all our amazing writers.
To grow our community of writers, we’re always on the lookout for new contributors. We’re interested in almost anything book related, but especially love thought pieces, reviews, interviews, and fiction. As long as it’s about books, it will probably hold our interest!
What writers are we looking for?
Columnists: We want your sparkling personality and our love of books to make the most perfect baby the internet has ever seen. As a columnist you can write about your life, what interests you and what you’re reading. You can find great examples of our columnists here.
If you’d like to share your life with us, then send in your idea for a column. What would you like to write about and what form would it take (list, think piece, essay, video etc.). We’d also like to hear a little more about who you are and what kinds of books you like.
Short Fiction Writers: We’re suckers for good short stories and are trying to publish more fiction on our website! The only demand we have on it is that the stories are no longer than 2500 words, besides that everything else goes. If you’re interested, feel free to send over a story you’d like to have published on our site.
Boring Book Recommendation Writers: From the get-go, we started with writing boring book recommendation about the books we read. These are simple review formats that we use to review all kinds of novels. The good thing is, that this position comes with the perk of getting new books. We have a bunch of e-galleys waiting for us that we can’t seem to get through, so we would love to get some help on this. You also get to review your own books, of course, so don’t worry about your TBR pile. Want to become one of our BBR Writers? Send us a BBR of the last book you read/hated or loved. Also send us your top 5 favorite books of all time, so we know what kind of books you enjoy.
Geniuses: The above-mentioned positions are what we already know, but if you have a completely new and innovative idea for our website, feel free to share it with us. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
And what about the small print?
There is no age limit for our contributors, so everyone is welcome to send in their work. We do ask that your English is good enough and that you will contribute at least once a month.
Unfortunately, we are not in a position to pay anyone. We’re a non-profit and don’t make any money off of it ourselves either. However, there are perks to being a regular contributor to our website. We can get you free books, advanced reading copies, and tickets to literary events. Instead of giving money, we’ll grant you amazing experiences and literary exploration. Doesn’t sound like such a bad deal to us.
Are you excited about writing for us? Just send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’re also happy to answer any questions you might have and look forward to hearing from you!
