A new year has started and you might have already failed keeping those new years resolutions. Don’t despair, because when it comes to writing more, we’ll help you get back on top of them!
We have a great group of contributors and are looking for more amazing writers to join us this year. We have a feeling this might be you, so bare with us.
We write book reviews, think pieces and columns on a daily basis. We have contributors doing all sorts of things and coming from all over the world. We love having different voices on our site, people who read books we have never heard of, but also people who share our views on reading and books.
At the moment, there are several writing beats that we’re looking to fill:
Boring Book Recommendation Writers: This comes with the perks of getting new books. We have a bunch of e-galleys waiting for us that we can’t seem to get through, so we would love to get some help on this. Of course, you also get to review books you want to read yourself or have already read.
If you’re interested, please send us a boring book recommendation of the last book you’ve read (loved or hated), a list of your top 5 favorite books and what book you’re looking forward to reading the most this year.
YA book club reviewer: You’ll be the YA version of Roy, reviewing all of our YA book club picks on a monthly basis. This is only open for people who can come to our YA book club regularly. You don’t have to be there every month, but you do have to be there most times and read the books monthly.
If you’re interested, please send us a review of either Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell or of Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. Also let us know what book you’re looking forward to reading most this year and what book you’d love to read with our YA book club.
Columnists: Tell us about your bookish life, what interests you and what you’re reading. As a columnist you’ll join the ranks of Maritza, Francisca, Jade and Nina.
If you’re interested, please send us your idea for a column. What would you like to write about and what form would the column take (list, think-piece etc.) Besides this, we’d want to know a little about who you are and what you do, what your favorite books are and what book you look forward to reading the most this year.
Short Fiction Writers: We’d love to start publishing fiction on our site as well. We’re looking for short stories that are no longer than 2000 words.
If you’re interested, please send us a story you’d like published on our site. Also tell us a little about yourself, who your writing influences are and what book you look forward to reading the most this year.
Geniuses: If you have another brilliant idea or work that you’d like to share with us, always feel free to do so. We can’t wait to see what you guys come up with.
We have no age limit, so everyone is welcome to send in their work. We do ask that your grasp of the English language is good enough and that you will contribute at least once a month.
Being a Bored to Death book club contributor has it’s perks. If there are any new books you’d like to read, you can always let us know and we’ll try to scrounge you up a copy. This also goes for entrance to literary events in The Netherlands you’d like to report on. Besides that, you’ll be the first to know about any events we organize and will get free bookmarks whenever you want. We’ll also tell your future employers whatever you want us to tell them, so we’ll make a great reference!
All applications can be send to email@example.com. We’ll promise to respond to you in a timely matter.
