Just one more week until our second YA book club where we’ll discuss I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson. But one more week, means three more options, because it is time to vote!

For December we thought it would be nice to pick some dark and dangerous options filled with magic, witches and adventure! We picked three (hopefully) awesome books and everyone can vote online. If you show up at the book club you get to vote again and be the first to know the newest book club pick!

Let’s see what we have in store:

Half Bad (The Half Bad Trilogy, #1)

Half Bad – Sally Green

Sixteen-year-old Nathan lives in a cage: beaten, shackled, trained to kill. In a modern-day England where two warring factions of witches live amongst humans, Nathan is an abomination, the illegitimate son of the world’s most terrifying and violent witch, Marcus. Nathan’s only hope for survival is to escape his captors, track down Marcus, and receive the three gifts that will bring him into his own magical powers—before it’s too late. But how can Nathan find his father when there is no one safe to trust, not even family, not even the girl he loves?
Half Bad is the first part of a trilogy. Part two will come in March 2015, so reading this will ensure you are ready!

Dorothy Must Die (Dorothy Must Die, #1)Dorothy Must Die – Danielle Paige

I didn’t ask for any of this. I didn’t ask to be some kind of hero.
But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado—taking you with it—you have no choice but to go along, you know? Sure, I’ve read the books. I’ve seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little blue birds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can’t be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There’s still the yellow brick road, though—but even that’s crumbling. What happened? Dorothy.
They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe. My name is Amy Gumm—and I’m the other girl from Kansas. I’ve been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked, and I’ve been given a mission: REMOVE The Tin Woodman’s heart,  STEAL The Scarecrow’s brain, TAKE The Lion’s courage, And then— DOROTHY MUST DIE.

The Coldest Girl in Coldtown – Holly Black

Tana lives in a world where walled cities called Coldtowns exist. In them, quarantined monsters and humans mingle in a decadently bloody mix of predator and prey. The only problem is, once you pass through Coldtown’s gates, you can never leave.

One morning, after a perfectly ordinary party, Tana wakes up surrounded by corpses. The only other survivors of this massacre are her exasperatingly endearing ex-boyfriend, infected and on the edge, and a mysterious boy burdened with a terrible secret. Shaken and determined, Tana enters a race against the clock to save the three of them the only way she knows how: by going straight to the wicked, opulent heart of Coldtown itself.
